A 19-year-old girl, Halimat Lawal, the best graduating student of Fountain University for the 2019/2020 session, bagged 11 awards at the 9th convocation ceremony of the institution.

Halimat, who graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences from the College of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Microbiology, received a standing ovation for her achievement.

During an interview with this medium, after the convocation, Halimat expressed that Education is not in any way related to being a scam, most especially for ambitious youths and as such the word devaluates the educational sector.

The young graduate opined that Nigeria’s institutions needs to increase their practicals as the world is moving in the aspect of technology, incorporating the technologies and softwares.

In her word, she said, “Nigerians are very intelligent as we understand the words we hear even though there is a limitation to practicing what we learn. I believe their is a need to increase the practicals that we carry out to give us better understanding and help us in retaining whatever we are taught.

“And also the world is moving forward in the aspect of technology, incorporating the technologies and softwares as they come gives us leverage for better education. Also there should be the incorporation of financial education at least in our tertiary institutions to curb the question of how can we survive financially?

While giving advise to admission seeker of the higher institionn, in her own word “whatever you do, you are doing it for yourself though not everyone will make it from the same means but give your self the satisfaction that you get when you know that you put in all your effort.

My Father, Moruf Lawal is from Ikirun, Osun state. My Both parents are into business and Alhamdulillah they saw me through school from the profit of their business.

“I always aim to be the best at whatever I find myself doing. My first day in school was on my 16th birthday and I was overwhelmed as my past history has always been that my first term or year would always be a flop. But I got to meet people who were accepting so as time went on I caught up.

“By the grace of Allah, My mother always told me that whatever I do in this life is always for myself. So my strategy was to cultivate my memory and I did this by giving explanations of the lessons taught to my fellow students of same level and below and I say that it really groomed my memory to remember whatever I was taught and I had taught.

“I would rather say Fountain University is a place where success can be achieved because the lecturers are willing to attend to any problems you may have in your studies and as long as you remain within morality less problems are faced. And this makes your journey seem challenge-free.

“The dream has always been and is still to become a medical doctor. So after my “O levels” and the inability to gain admission due to my age, I decided to go for a closely related course that I can use to further my studies into a medicine graduate.
