Angry Students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State residing in the school hostel on Thursday shut down the school entrance over alleged blackout that has been lasting for over a week.
The angry students summoned the presence of the Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, of the school lamenting lack of electricity and poor security in the school.
According to an eyewitness, the Rector was first blocked from entering the school, added that he appealed to the students before he could later gain entrance into the school premises.
Moreover, their demonstration also put a hold to activities within the school as both students and staff could be seen behind the closed gate.
Subsequently, it was reported that an escape route behind one of the hostels was no longer safe as some students claimed to have been robbed while returning to their hostels.
On getting to the hostel, Dr. Lateef asked for a pardon against the inadequacy which he claimed was not aware of the situation.
He further assured that it would be looked into soonest and that the light will be reinstall soon.
