COVID-19: NUC Orders Closure of All Universities

The National Universities Commission (NUC), has ordered the closure of all Universities in Nigeria due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Deputy Executive Secretary of the commission, Dr Suleiman Ramon-Yusuf made the order view hours after the Federal Government order the closure of all schools including secondary and primary schools.

In a press statement made available to HAPPENINGS Newspaper, the commission writes to the Vice-Chancellors of all Nigerian Universities that as part of measures to curb the menace of the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) throughout the country, approval has been granted for the closure of all schools for a period of one (1) month.

The statement further stated that the order should take effects from March Monday, 23rd of March, 2020.

Dr Suleiman advised all Vice-Chancellors to ensure immediate compliance with the order.

However, some institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University, Tai Solarin University of Education have been complying with the order.
