Osogbo Lions Club Gets New Excos, Charges Nigerians To Make Good Use Of NGOs Provisions



The District Governor of the Lions Clubs International District 404B-2 Nigeria, Lion Wesley Kafidiya has charged Nigerians to maintain whatever little provision Provided by non governmental organization and some individuals in the society for the benefit of the people.

Kafidiya gave the charge at the public presentation and fund raising of Osogbo Metropolitan Lions Club on Saturday in Osogbo, said there is various challenges in society both local and global which Lions club is trying to solve through her members in order to impact the society positively.

He also emphasized on the need to strengthen the club through recruiting of new members so as to reach out for effectiveness on humanitarian services.

Kafidiya who sworn-in 2019/2020 Osogbo Lions Club executives, charged them to invite and recruit quality new members to strength the group in various communities.

According to the Governor, “this is an exciting time to be a club president, your election as the Chief Executive Officers of the club impose a lot responsibility on you. Recruit quality members to have strong club today and tomorrow.

Speaking, the Osogbo Metropolitan president Lion Solabomi Akinsola said her regime would embark on three project to compliment efforts of government in bringing health services and education to standard level in the state.

Akinsola said, our intention is to embark on construction of convenience block at maternity ward and out patient ward at Osun State Hospital Asubiaro, Osogbo and construction of fooderic project at Laaro Middle School, Isale- Osun for hygienic eating environment for the pupils.

She stressed that the club has started impacting positively on the people of her club host community through their monthly activities adding that they had donated white cane sticks to the blind and sponsored a patient for eye cataract surgery.

According to her, “I must therefore commend founding members, past president and dignitaries for their contribution to the five service area of Lion club-diabetes, vision, pediatric cancer, hunger and environment.

“For this 2019/2020 lions year we will not limit our service to these five service area. we still identify community needs, project and activities to touch lives of the people.

Among dignitaries featured at the programme are; the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, represented by his chiefs, Oba Abdul Maroof Magbagbeoola, Olufon of Ifon Oro, former commissioner of information and strategy in Osun, Hon Sunday Akere among others.
