A FORMER LAWMAKER in Osun state, Hon. Waseeu Adebayo from Local Government has emerged as the Commissioner nominee; expected to serve in the Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration.
Waseeu, who emerged through an election consisting of party elders, chairman, women and youth leader, former lawmakers at state and local government levels, serving and former council chairmen among others.
Oyetola was sworn-in on November 27, 2018 but have delayed the appointment of commissioners.
The election which took place at the residence of the former deputy governor, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori had 25 out of 35 stakeholders in attendance.
Addressing the gathering before the process, Pa Lasisi Odebunmi said the decision to report to voting was reached to avert crisis likely to emanate from picking a candidate out of the two individuals seeking to serve with Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
He endorsed the the process and gave the order to commenced election.
Hon. Isa Ojewale served as the electoral chairman while Hon. Laide Ajibola was the Secretary.
The two candidates are Hon. Waseeu Adebayo and Mr. Shola Oladepo.
However, Oladepo was not at the meeting which necessitated delaying the process for over an hour.
At the end of the process, Adebayo polled 23 votes while two members did not cast any votes.
Earlier, the stakeholders had submitted the two names to the party but were rejected, asking the stakeholders to go back and bring one name.
However, due to the inability of the stakeholders to reach consensus on a name, it resolved to go into the election with a view to allowing the most popular candidate to emerge.
