UPDATED: NCDC confirms 196 New Cases of Coronavirus

Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 196 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total infections to 1,728.

According to a tweet by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), of the new infections, 87 were recorded in Lagos, 24 in Kano, while 18 were recorded in the Gombe State.

In Kaduna State, 17 cases were recorded, 16 in FCT, 10 in Katsina, Eight in Sokoto, Seven in Edo, 6 in Borno, and one each in Yobe, Ebonyi and Adamawa.

So far, a total of 307 have been discharged while 51 deaths have been recorded in the country.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 1,728, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Wednesday night.

“196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87-Lagos, 24-Kano, 18-Gombe, 17-Kaduna, 16-FCT, 10-Katsina, 8-Sokoto, 7-Edo, 6-Borno, 1-Yobe, 1-Ebonyi, 1-Adamawa.

“As at 11:55 pm 29th April- 1728 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria,” the Centre announced, adding that the total recoveries and fatalities in the country were 307 and 51 respectively.

The NCDC also disclosed that as at April 29th 2020, #COVID19 confirmed cases have been reported in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
